Privacy policy
Search & AI Visibility is a Shopify app that checks a store's products, collections and blog for search and AI-answer problems, and helps the merchant fix them.
What the app reads
- Products, collections, blog posts, pages and theme settings of the store that installs it.
- Google Search Console and Google Analytics data, only if the merchant connects Google.
- The app does not read or store customer or order information.
What it stores
- Audit results, settings, a log of every change it made (with previous values, so changes can be undone), scheduled jobs and usage counts.
- API keys the merchant adds and Google sign-in tokens, encrypted at rest.
- Usage events: what was done in the app and when (for example "audit run", "fix published", "tour finished"), with the Shopify staff user id of the person who did it and a few short details such as the fix type. No product text, messages or contact details. The last 1,000 events per store are kept. They help us see which parts of the app work and where people get stuck.
- Error reports: when something breaks, a short report (the error message, the page and the store) with keys and tokens removed. The last few are kept in memory for support.
Who it's shared with
- Anthropic (Claude), to write suggested copy. Only the product and page details needed for a suggestion are sent.
- Semrush or DataForSEO, if the merchant adds a key, to look up search volumes.
- Perplexity, if the merchant turns on AI answer checks and adds a key, to ask the questions the merchant chose.
- Hosting and operations providers that run the app (for example the server host), under their own security terms.
- Our support inbox, when the merchant sends a request from Help: the message, the store name and the store's contact email (so we can reply), and, only if the merchant ticks the box, basic diagnostics (app version, plan, last audit time, whether Google is connected, recent error messages). It goes to our support inbox or support tool by a secure web hook.
- Our error alert tool: error reports (scrubbed of keys and tokens), so we can fix problems.
- Optionally, our product analytics tool: a copy of each usage event described above.
- Nothing is sold or used for advertising.
Google user data
If the merchant connects Google, the app reads Search Console and Analytics data (read-only) to rank fixes and measure results for that store. It isn't used for advertising, sold, or shared except as described above. The app's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Merchants can disconnect Google at any time in Settings.
How long it's kept, and deletion
Data is kept while the app is installed. Merchants can export or delete it any time from Settings, Data and privacy. When the app is uninstalled, Google access is revoked straight away and scheduled changes are cancelled. All of the store's data (including usage events) is deleted when Shopify sends its shop data deletion request, 48 hours after uninstall. If the merchant reinstalls the app before then, the data is kept and nothing is deleted. Usage events are capped at the last 1,000 per store; older ones are removed as new ones come in. The one thing kept after deletion is a coded form of your store address to remember a free trial was used, so a reinstall doesn't start a second trial.
